In a defining moment for healthcare innovation in Nigeria, Medichat emerged as First Runner-Up at Startup Weekend Nnewi, a flagship entrepreneurship event hosted by the Anambra State Government in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The programme brought together entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and business minds to pitch solutions to real-world problems over an intensive weekend. Among the many ideas presented, Medichat stood out for its clear vision: using AI-powered triage to address the persistent problem of hospital congestion and unstructured patient intake that plagues Nigeria's public health system.

Dr. Osinachi Nwatu, Medichat's founder, pitched the idea inspired directly by his experience as a medical intern at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau, Zamfara State, where overwhelming patient influx regularly stretched clinical resources beyond their limits.

The recognition at Startup Weekend Nnewi was more than an award. It was the first public validation that the problem Medichat was built to solve was real, urgent, and solvable with the right technology. It marked the beginning of a journey the Medichat team has been on ever since.

Since then, Medichat has been on an accelerated path, building its team, refining its product, and pursuing partnerships that will take it from prototype to production across Nigerian healthcare facilities.

Medichat has officially commenced incubation with the Solution Innovation District (SID), a significant milestone in the company's journey from early-stage concept to scalable healthcare product.

The Solution Innovation District is a structured programme designed to accelerate startups with high-impact potential, providing access to mentorship, infrastructure, strategic networks, and the operational support needed to grow from prototype to market-ready product.

For Medichat, the incubation represents a pivotal step forward. With the technical groundwork laid and product vision validated, the partnership with SID provides the ecosystem needed to build, test, and deploy Medichat's AI triage platform at scale across Nigerian healthcare settings.

The Medichat team enters the incubation programme focused on three priorities: completing clinical validation of the triage engine, onboarding early hospital partners, and building the team infrastructure required to support a national rollout.
